Process
Step 1: Storyboarding and Approval for Style Frames
- timeline: 1 day
I’ll develop a storyboard of rough, thumbnail sketches so you can see how the story will be told to the viewer through visuals in sequence.
You’ve already provided reference, so I can create some style frames based on the that reference, thoroughly designed and crafted to show you what the final product will actually look like and give you an accurate picture of what the final video will look like.
Step 2: Asset Creation
- timeline: 2-3 days
Based on our conversations around the style frames, I’ll develop a visual system of assets.
Some specific examples from the script would be to create icons for how we’ll present ‘tokens‘ or charts and graphs to present data and statistics such as “roughly 80% of all CapEx goes into data centers infrastructure. Over the next few years, this infrastructure spend will total 8 trillion dollars, while only the remaining 20% goes into software, services and ai adoption“
A couple options to go over…
- We can stay closer to the reference so the visual style is motivated by the story
- Or, bring the the visual style of the elements closer in line with JetBrains brand elements.
Step 3: Animation
- timeline: 3-5 days
I’ll then animate the assets to emphasize and illustrate story points, keeping the style and timing consistent throughout the length of the video.
We can discuss what style of animation to leverage and review the reference to figure out what fits best and what speaks to the intended audience.
Basically, we’ll what works about the reference and how it would work for our story.
Step 4: Sound Design
- timeline: 1 day
Mix together the voiceover and music track so it’s clear, intelligible, and engaging and work out any timing adjustments so everything hits on the edits and animations.
You already have the audio, so it’ll just be a matter of getting everything to sit well together (and maybe add some subtle effects to drive focus).
Step 5: Revisions
- timeline: 2-4 days
At this stage, we’ll get approvals, fine tune, adjust things that aren’t working, and push the visuals to a place that we’re proud of.
Usually, there would be 2 rounds of revisions, but, again, this is our first time working together, so I’m very flexible. My main goal would be to collaborate on something that achieved your vision that you’re genuinely proud of, that reaches the maximum number of viewers and leaves a positive impression.
Step 6: Delivery
- timeline: .5 day
I’ll deliver a bundle of video files to cover every delivery target as well as formats for re-use and repurposing to broadcast and web specifications.
